Child support - under estimated.

Child support - under estimated.

* Please don't respond if negative.
My ex an I have been separated near 5 years and have a 6 year old son.
In the past he has made good money and always paid extra child support (paid privately). This last financial year he has paid $2000 less than what he should have.
Due to his under estimation I am now loosing $50 in my family tax benefit A each fortnight for the rest of this financial year.
I am struggling as it is at the moment as I have only been getting $66 a week to support our son. Btw.. I am a working parent.
Do I make him pay what he owes for the last financial year?

I assume your not having payments collected through CSA? If not transfer over to that method of collection that way your FTB is adjusted to suit how much your child support payments are as they go rather than things getting messy.

Even if he under paid you CSA will only backdate 3months of arrears. Ftb usually only decreases if you get back paid an amount. Ie my ex paid me cs from his tax so I had to pay back the extra ftb I recieved because he wasn't paying but then he paid in bulk at the end so I recieved money of the government I shouldn't have recieved. I would go and talk to them if you have proof of the amount he paid. If you want to go private collect still get it transferred from his bank acc to yours so you have proof.
