zoloft

Hi there. I am currently breastfeeding my 10 month old and havenot been ovulating since her birth but my husband and I don't use protection so know pregnancy may be a possibility down the line.I have just been prescribed zoloft but am finding the information online quite conflicting and scary. My doctor knows our circumstances and still prescribed it so I was hoping to get some insight from other mummies who may have been in this position and what they did

I might be able to help. I take Zoloft and took it while pregnant and breast feeding. What were you wanting to ask / know? Happy to help if I can

There is a lot of misinformation out there on the internet, I would only trust my Doctor, and pharmacist. If your really concerned go speak to a different GP for a second opinion.

I'm also on Zoloft. Have been since my now four year old son was only a few months old. All side effects HAVE to be listed as a precaution, but doesn't mean they are likely to happen. They just have to list it just in case. I've never had any trouble on Zoloft. It has always worked great for me & helped me back onto my feet through the hardest time of my life. Good luck with everything you're searching for and feel free to also message me on Facebook.

Thanks everyone. Karen I mainly wanted to know if you have had any issues or if you have noticed any side effects with your child?

None at all. I've been on it for 9 years. It made me really nauseous at the start as my body was getting used to it. I found it helps me cope a lot better than I usually do. It has had no effect on my girls, both are normal, happy and healthy. Google is good for some things but bad in others ways. Don't listen to web searches. If you are really concerned talk to your doctor but studies do show no effect on children which is why it is one of the very few that is safe to take while breastfeeding and pregnant. The only thing my doctor ever Saud was it might make them sleepy. I have to take it others I go nuts. You will be fine but if you are realty worried talk to your gp. They have to list possible side effects to protect themselves but they are rare.good luck xo

Yep on Zoloft too! I was actually changed over from another anti-depressant to Zoloft when I was pregnant (by my Psychiatrist), as Zoloft is a very common one so there are many studies done and cases known. It's considered one of the "safer" ones for pregnancy, so don't google side effects or anything because you'll get paranoid for nothing lol.

I was prescribed Zoloft by a psychiatrist when I was pregnant with my first child 2 years ago, and I now have a one month old as well. I have taken Zoloft throughout both pregnancies and while breastfeeding and there have been no effects on the children. I experienced drowsiness and dizziness when I first started taking it but this subsided within a month or so. As others have said, please don't read the horror stories on the internet, get your advice from a professional. Zoloft is perfectly safe to take while pregnant and breastfeeding, I checked this with a psychiatrist, obstetrician and lactation consultant. Please talk to your GP if you're concerned about anything at all. Best of luck with everything :)
