RE: Daughters sister living with us

Hi,

I'm about to have my daughters little sister (from her dads side) come stay with us. It's temporary atm for Schooling. What can I do to help her feel welcome and help her adjust to being away from her family? Should I make a welcome pack? What should it have in it ? Has anyone been in this situation ? How do I help her get used of the new School & our new family routine? I'll take any advice

Thank you

Just maintain normality and your family dynamics as much as possible. Maybe ask her what she would like for dinner once a week, if there’s anything she needs at the shops.

When she first comes, with your ex maybe sit down and discuss ground rules and if you have any expectations for her :)

Hard to advise without knowing her age. I mean, a kid between 5-9 will adjust differently to a 10 - 12 year old and a teenager will be different again.

Good luck though 😊

Such a beautiful idea. Maybe take her shopping for a doona cover for her bed?
