Hi Mummas

I have a 16mo and I am separating from my husband. He has a job away from home but he comes home once and month. He will stay with us at our current address as he doesn’t have any where else to go. I don’t know where to go from here or what payments from Centrelink I will be entitled too. Will him coming back here to stay affect it? I’m at SAHM and don’t have a cent to my name.

Honestly I wouldn’t even mention this to them. It will just confuse things. Obviously if you are separated you won’t be sharing a room (or bed) and you won’t be attending functions where it could be misconstrued that you are a couple. For your child sake it probably the best option to have Daddy at home for visits. Long term you’ll get your own places as you move forward.
You will be entitled to parenting payment single, family tax benefit A and B.

The system is so complicated. It’s hard to determine what you would be entitled too because your hubby will need to pay child support. New rules require you to provide names of 2 people (not immediate family) who can confirm you have separated and it is even more complicated if you live under the same roof. Any chance you can go back to work?

How long will he stay for? You can have him stay and still qualify. My ex stays every second weekend so he can see his kids as per court orders, sometimes I am there when he is with the kids sometimes I am not. Centrelomk know this and still pay me parenting payment single.

I went thru this 8 years ago. Separated while pregnant with my 3rd child but both under same roof still. Had to fill out heaps of paperwork in regards to bedroom arrangements, bathroom arrangements etc and had to give references for ppl for them to call to support my claim of being separated.
