Hi Single mum with one child, working where I can but hard as have no family here where I am and can't return home to family and only have one friend in my small town. loan to repay that is killing me. MY questions are I need the net for school but I need to make it cheaper I pay $100 for bundle. What services and company are you with? must live in northern Victoria Mildura/Swan Hill Area. but happy to hear of other deals rural customers do not get the great deals of the city. Also food I see lots about budgeting and meal planning but how to I break old habits and get started I can only afford to spend about $100 on food including toiletries.

How much data are you using? Check your data usage matches your plan. When studying full time at uni I was spending about $30 a month on internet access (and studying remotely so it was all online). But I was disciplined and didn't download movies etc it was just uni, email etc. Also what's it bundled with? I have no home phone and just use my mobile. That's $50 a month and more than I need and a fancier phone than I need. Next time I won't be upgrading! As far as food goes get really organised. We fill out meals with rice and pasta (it's really cheap and filling). We use cheaper cuts of meat where we can like chicken thighs versus breast. Lots of slow cooker meals that make servings that do 6 so that I can freeze left overs. It takes some planning to get started (write a list of ingredients etc). You need to outlay a bit more to get started but in the end you save a lot. We also eat a vegetarian meal once or twice a week. A really healthy home made pizza is also cheap and the ingredients do us 4 pizzas/ meals. Prepackaged snack foods can be pricey so I avoid those and soft drinks are a treat only and bought on special. Soup is also good value, easy to make and healthy.
Exetel are quite reasonably priced and have bundles and a lot of data - we are rural vic too so they may still service your area
Do you mind if I ask what area you are they are quite impressive deal? With line rental.
I am in echuca. Check out their website and there is a spot where they tell you if they provide coverage to your area. http://www.exetel.com.au/broadband/adsl
There is a plan for 100gb for 19.95 plus line rental of 20.00, I think that's pretty reasonable in comparison to others out there.
I am having trouble finding a provider thatcan provide just the internet they can only offer Adsl in my area and insist I have line rental and charge me through the roof. I do not need a home phone as I have my mobile which is a fantastic rate. I very rarely down load but can use a bit of data researching etc discussion boards etc for uni/ tafe . Tried bundling my mobile but Optus doesn't offer services in my area
