Advice for my Dyslexic/Irlens daughter and schooling....please help!

My beautiful 6 1/2 year old daughter has been diagnosed with Irlen Syndrome, Central Auditory Processing Disorder and Dyslexia. She's due to finish year one this year and has struggled all this year and through prep. She has been fitted with Irlen glasses which have at least stopped the words from "sinking" into the page which has helped a lot, but she is still very far behind. She has had extra help with a special needs teacher in school and one on one private tuition with dyslexia/Irlens specialists. She has been seen by a pediatrician who thinks dyslexia is over diagnosed and has never heard of Irlens, he thinks she has inattentive ADHD and wants to medicate her with Ritalin. Lots of "experts", many different opinions, very confusing!

We are moving at the end of the year so she is changing schools. Her teacher this year recommended that she repeat, which I think would be a good idea, especially with the move, so that she gets the basics down pat and doesn't struggle as much, however I am given a lot of for and against arguments and both have valid points......so my questions are; does anyone have any experience with this situation, what did you do, what do you wish you did, did repeating help, did you wish you did repeat and any other information/advice you can offer.

Please help me help my precious girl. Her self esteem has really taken a beating this year and her little spirt isn't as bright as it once was. She is a very happy, bright and bubbly child with no real behavioural problems. I really can't complain, she is a fantastic kid and just wants to make people happy and proud of her. I know there are no quick fixes and that after school she will do really well, I just need some help to help her through these difficult years.

Thanks in advance :)

I've heard repeating really helps. If it were me I would more than likely repeat her. I hope you receive some good advice on here. All the best for your little family.
