I am currently pregnant and due to give birth early in the new year. My last birth was very traumatic for me, my waters broke spontaneously at 36 weeks, didn't progress in 36 hours and was then induced with syntocinon drip. I had 1 minute contractions with 30 second breaks for 6 hours followed by two and a half hours of transition and chose only to have gas for pain relief. I ended up getting her out naturally with the doctor standing over me with vacuum ready to go, pushing her out in one go and resulting in a 2nd degree tear.
I am scared of going through a traumatic birth again, tearing again, and being left with problems again such as not being able to be intimate with my husband for many, many months, and LBL.
I am a private patient and thinking about my options of natural vs csection, and would like to hear from other women who have experienced both options of birth and your preference.

My daughter was a 18 hour vaginal delivery and I tore badly and had 22 stitches and developed a golf ball sized haematoma on my vaginal opening and peritineum which meant I needed a catheta and then when the swelling went down I needed to have the stitches redone. I was in hospital 8 days. It was traumatic and I hated it but it was all worth it because I have my daughter. I was very young and led by the hospital and really had no idea what my options were in relation to labouring and delivery. It was the best worst experience. My second pregnancy (15 years later) I had to have a c section because I was carrying Monoamniotic twins and a vaginal birth would mean certain death for the second twin. Seriously despite what I went through the first time, I would take the vaginal delivery over the c section any day. The recovery time is months. Yes you "heal" within a matter of weeks but months later I was still having trouble especially juggling 2 newborns. So many women I know have had trouble, infections, hernias, tearing of stitches. It is major surgery. You really need to speak to both your midwife/OB and a counsellor to try and help you deal with your past birth and deal with your fears. Being tense and anxious during labour because of past experience is not a good thing (If you chose to go that way). It really is personal choice but a c section is not the "easy way out" that some people make out to be. It is major surgery, yes it happens everyday but it is what it is. Surgery with risks to both you and bubba, all of which need to be discussed with your medical team.
