Ankylosing Spondylitis

I've been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis and I am just wondering what is out there for sufferers for help. I am in Western Australia

Get a referral to a Rheumatologist and a pain clinic from your GP.

My husband was diagnised with this about 20 years ago. He's now 45. We managed for a long time, however over time his pain, inflammation and fusion of bones got worse. He's been under the care of a Rheumatologist (the same one for the whole time). About 3 years ago his condition deteriorated and his medication needed to be changed. He is now on a drug called 'Humira'. It's been amazing. His pain in under control, he's really active and living a fairly normal life. The one thing with this condition is to keep moving, have a good diet and rest when you need to. Find a good doctor and get the right medication for your situation. All the best, Kim
