Hi mummies.
I am filing out an application to change my child’s name with the qld magistrate court as my child’s father is out of the picture and has been for the past 5 years... so I can’t find him to contact him to ask if he will sign.
I have explained this but in the application it’s asking to show how I have attempted to contact him. We no longer have any mutual friends, he has no family on fb, last I heard he was living in a town about 4 hours away. How would I show I have attempted to find him? I read that I could post a classified in the news paper asking him to contact me, I’m happy to do this but not sure if it would be counted as proof??

Contact all family and friends you knew of, find old numbers and send letters to all adresses and facebook contacts. Ask the person who last told you where he is.
😠. Just leave your kids name alone, if she wants to change it when an adult then so be it. My childrens' father is absent also and he was all kinds of abusive but I would never find that to be a good enough reason to mess with my kids identity.
