My husband has just started night shift work and will possibly start working away, and I know this sounds juvenile but I'm the biggest scaredy cat! I still get scared of what's under the bed or in the closet or the shadows of the night! Every gust of wind or creak in the house or neighborhood cat darting past our outdoor sensor light puts me on edge and gives me anxiety! Does anybody else feel this way when their partner is away during the night? How do you cope with this? Thank you!

Exposure therapy! I had no choice but to get over it when I became a single mum in my 20s
Omg yes!! My hubby has been working away every 2nd week now for nearly 12 months. I hate it but I am used to it now. My dogs make me feel more secure. I have a baseball bat by my bed too lol
Get a dog.
My husband has worked nightshift for 14 years. At times yes it does get scary. I got a big dog and she has a scary bark iam also very security alert. Lastly I have the cops on speed dial anything dodgy I just call them.
I'm like this as well. The real estate has told us no pets so it's not as simple as getting a dog either. I leave a bunch of lights on in the house so hopefully no one will break in because they think someone is still up.
When my hubby used to do night shift, I used to hate it. I'd sleep on the couch with the TV on lol.
I would suggest getting a locksmith out to install nice new locks to the doors and windows, that will give you some peace of mind. Other than that it's just something you get used to eventually.
Nowadays if my partner is away and I hear a noise I'm just like "meh... If it's burglars I hope they're quiet I'm trying to sleep" 😂😂
My husband drums both nights of the weekend leaving me home most of the time both nights with our toddler. I am always getting freaked out. I refuse to watch any scary movie ever!
Nope, you're not alone in this. I sleep with my phone under hubby's pillow and a cricket bat next to the bed. My mum confessed to me recently that she used to sleep with a knife under her pillow (which I think was incredibly brave considering she had a water bed!)
