Real estate repair costs!
Is $400 a lot to Be charged for 2 hand sized partial holes in a wall?
They are saying they will need to repaint the wall as well and that it is mainly labour
Any estimates on what it should cost?
I'm in Queensland
Thanks IMs x

No it's not. It's unlikely they could just use filler. Repairing plaster work is fiddly and they would have had to have plaster, glue, plasterboard, the fabric strips, sand paper, undercoat, paint etc. And it often it takes a couple of goes to get the plaster smooth.
It's quite a bit of work and return visits for the repairer before they even start painting as the plaster has to dry in between etc.
Getting someone to do the job in the first place is a pain in the ass!!
It's one of those jobs that looks fairly simple and a home handyman can knock out easily but fiddly and time consuming. It looks really fast on tv because they edit etc.
Yeah my guy came on three separate occasions to repair mine. Only there under an hour each visit but they have to allow curing time then sand and so on
Real estate always overcharge. Call hire a hubby and sort it yourslf.
It sounds pretty standard, real estates have their preferred tradespeople and businesses to use. Ultimately though, if you want your bond back and a good reference you don't have much choice other than to pay it. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask to see the quotes and invoices though.
That sounds cheap to me! They charged my parents $200 for a tiny hole barely bigger than a 5cent coin.
I had a friend of a friend plasterer repair a knee size hole in my last rental (earlier this year) and he charged me (or my son to be more accurate) $200 cash. We painted the wall so it actually cost a bit more than that. I never told the real estate agent. It was an old house with heaps of bumps, scuffs and marks. I told him not to make the repair look too good as it'd stand out from the rest of the house 😊
Get a plasterer to come and give u a quote yourself ?
Go with the cheaper option but if you get your own make sure it's a good job or you'll be charged to do it again anyway .
OR get 2 other quotes and show the realestate . If they don't match the cheaper one you can always make an official complaint .
They will need to patch and then paint the whole wall though so keep that in mind
