So I suffer pcos and have the bar in. I started taking metformin ( due to being insulin resistant from the pcos) nearly three months ago and now I've had 5 periods in 5 weeks. They last 5 days each time. And to be honest I am totally over it. I'm drained and I'm sick of buy pads. I've been to see the gp she's sent me for scans and blood tests now I'm just waiting for results to come back. Anyone been threw this or something similar. I'm at my wits end.

Why are you on metformin? It is generally used for diabetes or to stimulate/regulate ovulation (thus resulting in a period after ovulation). Why do you still have the bar in if you're taking the Metformin as generally it isn't recommend I thought (I know I had to have mine removed when we looked at taking it).
I'm on metformin due to my poly cystic ovarian syndrome. Which has made me insulin resistant. I'm on the bar cos that's what the doctor recommended. But it is due to be removed in a couple months. I've never had a problem with it before and this is the second time having it in
I'd be seeking out a new doctor if this is what has been recommended. You're using two drugs that clash completely and are used for the opposite effects.
I'm not sure why you're using the two but your body is probably confused if the bar is trying to do one thing and the pill is trying to do another... two forms of hormonal contraceptives could be confusing as hell
Poster here. I have just gotten back from the doctor. Bar is now removed and I'm starting on the pill and see where we go from here.
Fingers crossed for a good outcome!
