Debt Help

I have about 25k worth of various debts that I want to finally face and deal with.

I'm thinking I should contact My budget, or Fox Symes or the like but I'm scared of getting mucked around.

I've tried speaking to some of the creditors myself but find them very intimidating and then I hide/ignore them. I'm so sick of not facing my problems and really want to take action but I 100% need professional help.

I'm a single mum on the pension and ftb, get child support and work 10 hours a week.

Looking for recommendations from readers please?

Thank you.

Before you contact those places speak to a financial counsellor. They are free.
I know Salvation Army, Centrelink offer these services.
My bank even has a financial counsellor contact number on there website.
They don't sell services as such so you won't get sold products. Just advice and helping you talk to your creditors.

Start with the smallest debt first. Make bigger repayments, even 10 a week will make a big difference, if it's a credit card, cease using it, chop it up, lose the number to it! Once you have cleared out that first debt you will find it so much easier and actually want to keep pushing to clear the rest. I have made a chart for my debts and at the end of each month record how much I'm down to. Being able to see what's left owing is also helping me to see I am making progress. Give yourself a realistic time frame to clear these debts too. ONce you've cleared your first debt use what you were paying on that to contribute to the next.
