So, I have been out of the workforce for 6 years now, 2 kids and am needing to get back to work. I have studied and gotten a degree in nursing, but have been unable to get work.
I have made the decision that I would like to get back into a part time administration role, but with such a big gap, my resume isn't looking all that healthy.
Are there any free services that could help with getting my resume ship shape to put me in the game for getting a job? Funds are exceptionally tight, hence the need to get back into work haha. Not interested in any work from home type jobs. I am located on the Gold Coast if that makes any difference.
Thank you ☺️

Good luck! I have been out of the workforce for over a decade and no matter what I do I cannot even get an interview. ☹️ I am also in the admin field and have been applying for jobs for 4 years. I have had my resume redone 3 times and it hasn't helped at all. I just received an email this morning from an agency that I contacted last week in regards to trying to get some temp work and they have told me that unfortunately they cannot help me as most of their clients want someone with current experience or who has been out of the workforce for less than 2 years. It's tough. I think it's who you know these days not what you know.
With the nursing role, have you tried working in aged care or something? As opposed to in a hospital? It's such a sought after career :(
Could you try for a job as a personal carer in aged care and then if a nursing job came up in the same place maybe they would be more likely to hire you?
Just wondering why you can't get work? (I'm currently studying a Bach of Nursing). Hope you don't mind me asking
I'm also studying a bach of nursing and sadly I have been hearing this so much :( I'm starting to get worried I won't find a job once i finish my studies.
