Hi,
So basically I am a full time stay at home mum and my husband has a good full time job. I have been claiming centrelink payments for the past 6 months although my husbands income changes every week depending on shifts and public holidays etc (some weeks there can be a difference of $1000 a fortnight!) and i am finding it hard to give centrelink an accurate estimate of our income.
My question is can I go back and claim payments from the previous financial year? I thought it might be better for me to cancel my payments and just wait till the end of the financial year and then claim the payments so we know exactly how much hubby has earn't.
I would rather not have to pay centrelink back because we have claimed to much!
thank you

Talk to centrelink but from my understanding there is a payment where you can opt to receive at tax time. If you cancel it you can't then claim for what you should have received in arrears.
My husband works on contract & income varies. We claim yearly and don't usually get much. There is a section online you can do this. You can phone centrelink & they will walk you through it. You can also do a yearly estimate (make it high) & if you find through the year you are well below it, you can adjust it.
Claim it annually better than u owing them money come tax time u can also adjust his yearly income on the app and do it my yearly salary feather than weekly
You can opt to receive family tax at tax time in one lump sum instead of fortnightly. Just give them a call, or use the app or online to set it up yourself :)
