Weight gain during pregnancy

Weight gain during pregnancy

I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my second child and can feel the weight gain creeping up again. First time round I put on 20+kg and really struggled to lose the weight after the baby was born. It affected my self image and mood and I'd rather not go through it again. That being said, it hasn't deterred me from eating waaay too much crap this time round. I definitely eat more than I should and don't exercise enough (at all). This this round I'm blaming it on having a toddler and not being able to go for walks/get out of the house easily.

Any tips from those who have been there and successful slowed weight gain without being miserable and hungry the whole time? I'm loving sugar and peanut butter this pregnancy (ha and it's such a mystery why I'm gaining weight!)

Thanks.

The more processed, sugary foods you eat the more you'll crave them. It's hard but try and substitute the crap food for something that satisfies your cravings. There's so many recipes out there now that are "clean" versions of unhealthy treats (like healthy banana bread, pancakes, bliss balls with dates and raw cacao etc.)

I don't think you should be focussing on weight gain but put your focus on eating to nourish your body and your baby. Eat when you're hungry and until you're satisfied just try and make better food choices as your future self will thank you for it!

I'm 25 weeks pregnant with a toddler and she LOVES getting outdoors, going for walks and going to the park. If you don't find that you can do those things with your toddler maybe leave your child with your partner (if that's possible) and take half an hour to go for a walk. I really think improving your nutrition should be the focus first though. Good luck xx
