I can't drive due to medical reasons and I get through life fine. I live close enough to parks, doctors, shops, school, daycare etc anywhere else I can't walk to I get public transport. If you want another I'd say just go for it.
It doesn't make you a bad Mum, for not having it. I hope you could find the time to do your remaining hrs. I was a few mths pregnant when I got my licence (after failing the test) and I wasn't confident & pretty terrible but a few yrs on I am so much more confident. So it can be done. If you and your partner want another baby then go for it, with or without the drivers licence :) Try focus on all your blessings not the one negative.
The other answers are optimistic, but how do you get around now? Are you at full capacity getting three on the bus train/train with pram and associated gear? You only have so many hands, only you know if it is doable at this point or not, we aren't with you and go through the struggles or lack of. If it's all fine and easy, I would, but if you are currently struggling, I wouldn't add to it. Also, once you get your license, you will be surprised how quickly you get confident driving around when you are doing it every day. Good luck, I hope you get it soon.
Yes you can probably get by without a licence but I'd get my licence first. Getting three kids to doctors appointments etc or doing a school run on a rainy day, much easier with a licence.
Having a sick kid in a taxi or on a bus or having to wait until someone can drive you is just not nice.
Hon, you're so close! Clock those last few hours and sit your P's. Confidence will come naturally I expect, even if you still prefer to walk or use public transport you'll have your license/car just in case.
I had 3 babies under 3 and survived getting around on busses but my god it would have been much less stressful if I could've popped them in the car, especially when it was an old bus that didn't have the spots to park the pram. Of have to take the baby out, fold up the heavy pram, carry that - the baby, my shopping and shuffle 2 toddlers on. Absolute nightmare! They're all school aged now and I still only have my L's but getting them on the bus is much less hassle.
Think about urgent situations Too. For example taking very Ill kids to the doctor on public transport is impractical and it's not fair to the child and other passengers (I've had to do this many times myself and I hate it) and once your kids start school if they come down unwell and you need to collect them, you'll want to pick them up asap.
I suppose it depends too on how good the transport service is in your area and how close you are to things you need (schools, shops, Doctors & pharmacies etc.) Personally I think if your not within a reasonable walking distance to school then you're definitely going to need a licence, I'm only a 15 minute walk to my kids school and that can be inconvenient at times.
Ultimately only you'll know if it's doable or not but not having a drivers license does not make you a bad mum at all ? I dont drive and I think I'm a pretty awesome mum lol, I bet you are too!
You only have a few hours to go. It's no time at all. Just get it done. i mean you are probably talking a few months maximum wait? If you were talking about getting a degree I'd get it, that's a three year wait, but a few months wait, I don't see the big deal at all.
Also once your kids hit school age they will want to be starting extra curricular activities. Your schedule is going to get really tight without you both being able to drive.
I live about 10 mins from sydney city and have no need for a licence. Walking distance to schools, drs, shops, heaps of parks and play areas. Train and bus access everywhere. I can see how you'd need it in the middle of nowhere but i feel its so silly for most fams to have 2 cars and drive where they can walk. If you feel you need it, get it. Otherwise, dont stress too much.
You can try for another while still completing those hours. Two birds with one stone. Keep practicing to get your confidence up
