Hey IM's
Does anyone else struggle with their bubs getting a flat head? I feel like im doing everything i possibly can to prevent it but its getting worse. I put him on his side to sleep but he always ends up on his back through the night even if i have a support to stop that from happening. Could it be because hes a big baby? Just not sure i feel like its inevitable at this point. Hes only 4 months hes cant sleep on his stomach yet unfortunately for

I'm no expert but I'd still encourage tummy time for him to get use to it then maybe his day naps he may sleep on his tummy. If you can nap with him & hold him on his side may help during the day. Seek advice from your midwife or nurse on call may have some tips. Good luck
Some flat is okay but obviously being aware of it is a good thing.
You can get little pillows with a hole in the middle which might be a good investment. Other wise you are doing all the right things.
Is the flat spot to one particular side of the head? You can always switch which end of the cot his feet are, so that (generally they look out of the cot rather then at the wall for example) so that it switches up which way he looks. If that makes sense.
Definitely ask a doctor. Putting baby to sleep on tummy or with a pillow can increase risk of SIDS. Ask the professionals for advice. Lots of tummy time can help.
My little boy developed a flat spot when he was a bub, he seemed to favour one side of sleeping. My doctor told me if i didn't get on top of it quickly that in more serious cases they actually have to put a kind of corrective helmet on bubs head to help to correct it. Not wanting this I used things like a rolled up swaddle (or two), even a rolled up cloth nappy, to kind of lift the flat spot and shift him into a new position safely whilst sleeping. The good news is that my persistence paid off and it worked, now he has a beautifully round head. So get onto it asap, don't procrastinate and if you're concerned at all then speak to your doctor.
