Changing 'toilet' time.

Changing 'toilet' time.

Hi , we have an almost 3 year old who is having poo time/bed time issues. Since returning from an overseas trip a couple of months ago we can not get him to go to bed until at least 9, sometimes 10. The reason: he needs to poo. He has never been a great sleeper, but we could always get him into bed for 7-7.30, but now he will bed hop, run around the house in a crazy hyped up state(often waking his baby sister) or request another movie, until he has 'been' (nappy) and then he will calmly go to bed. So my question is : is it possible to 'change' or 'train' him to go the toilet at his previous 6pm and if so any suggestions how. TIA one tired Mamma

My daughter used to struggle with doing a poo and would be saying she needed to go for hours but never going. I found to make her more regular I fed her drid apricots (I cut them up to look like lollies) this made her poos alittle looser and easier to pass perhaps something like this May help u can also try prunes but I found the apricots had a sweet taste she liked them better

This is a serious problem & I had three children who all suffered constipation as a result of "holding on". I was told by the Dr that by holding on so long then going it actually stretches the anus muscles & you have to fix that problem. I would give my kids actilax from the chemist until they could "go" a lot easier than gradually lessen the dose & increasing natural fibre. Your son probably can't get his poo out & that's what you have to retrain them to do without fear of it hurting. My 5yo started school this year & we are having the same problem again as he holds on all day. He isn't comfortable going anywhere but home (makes going on holidays very difficult). Good luck, don't be afraid to use the medicine, it works well & can be added to juice or water.
