Just wanting to share in case it helps someone else....
My son was just 6yo (still learning about filters) and one day he told me I had a fat tummy. Not in a mean way, just an observation. It hurt. Yes, I cried.
I'd always been slim......until pregnancy. I put on a fair bit of weight, had c sections, couldn't bf, and also diastis recti (split stomach muscles). I work nearly ft, money's tight and I hadn't really tried too much to get back to a reasonable weight. I was probably about 15kg over.
Anyway, after the festive season I vowed to try hard. I just eliminated a lot of crap from my diet and smaller portion sizes and some minimal exercise. I LOST 13kg but I had this annoying belly. Still largish, like pregnant. Frustrating.
One day out of the blue I had severe pain and vomiting for about 1/2 hour. I went to Dr following day as I didn't even have morning sickness so it was a concern. After urgent blood tests, CT scan and ultra sound, they discovered an ovarian cyst. About 13cm x 11cm x 14cm!!
I honestly believe my weightloss contributed to allowing these symptoms to be exposed with the extra room.
Urgent referral to hospital and surgery. Now I'm 2wks post surgery and missing my ovaries, uterus and appendix. I'm also on HRT for min 9yrs. Also in financial probs due to time off work and lited paid leave.
Pathology came back benign but the cyst had A typical cells which could of turned cancerous. I'm fine with this outcome. I'd finished my family anyway, and I'm better off being alive for my 6yo and 3yo.
This is just a reminder that if something doesn't feel right, check it out.
I'd never had a problem with my periods. Nothing to indicate I had this massive growth.
So, to my gorgeous son. Thankyou for your unfiltered comments which put my health on track. Love you x.

As an obese person myself, and have medical specialists in the family I know the risks for some condition going undiagnosed or having a later diagnosis is higher. It's just harder to notice lumps and bumps. I know due to my H cup breasts I have to be extra careful. Not because I'm more likely to get breast cancer, but because it's harder for me to notice any changes and mammograms in larger breasts aren't as accurate. So i try to keep my weight down (a long history of eating disorders, so it's a constant balancing act of being as healthy as I can without disordered eating) but I also make sure I get a breast ultrasound, and am proactive around my health in general.
I'm glad you are okay and I hope your recovery is quick.
