I don't like my name, it doesn't suit me, it doesn't fit! No one even calls me by my name. People always shorten it! I tell them my name and it sounds weird coming out of my mouth, I wonder if I even say it right. Growing up I was always called nicknames by family that aren't even close to my name. My partner doesn't even say my name. Is it because no one calls me my name that I feel it doesn't suit me? It's playing on my mind a lot.
Does anyone else feel they've got the wrong name?

As a child I was called by the shortened version of my name but as an adult it doesn't feel like it fits. So I started going by my long name and at first it felt uncomfortable but now it fits.
I know loads of people who have changed there names or switched from the short to long version etc. there is a reason they do it. I don't think you are alone.
I have two names. My real name is my "work name" lol. My nickname I've had since I moved to this town 22 years ago is my common name (which has nothing to do with my birth name, not shortened etc).
My ex husband was known by one name plus a nickname too, but neither are his real names (still don't really know the real fucking story, I digress lol) but anyway, we switched to calling him his official passport name when he came to Australia. At first it was weird/strange, but after a while it was fine, it's quite amazing how quickly you adjust. If you do change your name, it will be strange for you and those around you at first, but before you know it, it will just become your name. YOLO, change it if it makes you happy ?

I used to hate my name because I knew no other Nicolas
As I've grown up though I'm used to it and have now met ALOT of Nicolas :)
