My five year old just told my dog to die that he didn't need her anymore. He wasn't even looking at her. As soon as I said what? He started hugging her and denying it and saying no he loved her. I hadn't even said anything but "what" I know kids sometimes say weird stuff but at 5 is that normal? Could he just have been voicing an obsessive compulsive thought?

Kids say silly stuff. This is totally normal. I told my mum that she was the worst mum ever and that she was fired! I also told her she wasn't my mum and I must be adopted.
Kids and adults say stupid stuff when they are annoyed and frustrated. It's not a sign of anything.
My four year old asked my husband to shoot our dog in one breath and in the next breath said the dog was his best friend. Kid say weird weird shit. I can guarantee my boy would be devastated if anything happened to the dog.
Unless he's actually torturing animals, don't worry about what he says lol ?
Kids say things in such an arbitrary way at this age, they don't really understand the gravity of saying such things. It's a good opportunity to talk to them about how our words can effect others though.
Completely normal.
It's all about zombies, lava, death, burps and bums with my 2 boys (7yr and 4yr, loooooooooonnnngggggg way to go to be out of this phase).
