I have 2 kittens, 6 weeks and 12 weeks and neither of them will use the kitty litter. The 6 week old we have hand raised since she was 3 days old and she keeps choosing the same spot of tiles no matter what it's cleaned with and the 12 week old is a new member to the family that likes to use my bed as a toilet. The litter is clean and is the crystal stuff. Whenever we see the cats ready to go we put them in the litter tray which doesn't work. I've tried google for advice but none of it's working. Every other cat I've owned has always used the kitty litter. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get our kittens to use the litter tray?

My cats hate the crystal stuff! If you have felt it when it's clean it feels really awful. Where do you have the kitty litter? I would start keeping them in the same area as the kitty litter for awhile. No escape until they've used the tray. Usually the mother trains her babies so that's probably the issue with the youngest and may take a little longer (most kittens don't leave the mother until 12 weeks and the mum cleans up after them). Making sure the food is no where near the litter. Have you tried putting the litter tray on the tile where the youngest goes?
Hi, yes we had tried everything but changing the litter over. I got clumping stuff tonight and our 12 week old used it right away, yay. 6 week old not is as easy to get on the litter but she didn't jump right off of it when we put her on it which was great. I have made up a spray to use on my bed to help deter the 12 week old and in the spots that the 6 week old likes to use to try and deter her as well. Even after the 12 week old used the litter she still jumped on my bed to try to pee on it grrr. I am glad I caught her. But with a fresh spray she refused to try again.
Yay! Cat pee is just gross. With the little one hopefully she will learn from the bigger one over the next week. When you put the little one in the litter do you physically make him scratch the litter with his paws?
