Should siblings with a big age gap share a bedroom?

Hi IM's, we are considering having our two daughters share a room. My main concern with doing this is their age difference - we have a 2 year old and an 8 year old. Our 8 year old is keen to share with her little sister but I'm not sure she understands what the realities of doing this would mean. Any recommendations, suggestions from others who have kids with a big age gap would be gratefully accepted.

I think it's not a big deal at this age but it depends if the two year old mostly sleeps through. If 2 year old sleeps through I'd give it a trial but if she doesn't then I'd use my parental veto!
It's not really an issue until your eldest hits puberty and all that that might mean :)

I also have two daughters aged 8 and 2 and I would not share them unless you absolutely have to. The older one needs to get a good sleep for school and if your 2 year old is anything like mine that would be impossible with them in the same room.

Sometimes you just cant help it
I have 4 kids. Boy 9, girl 8, boy 4, girl 10m..we only have a 3 bedroom house so the boys share and the girls will share soon. We plan to get a 4 bedroom but theres still going to be 2 kids sharing...if i had the choice i would give all my kids their own room. Do whats best for ypur family. They will get use to it.
