Family budgets

I am having issues with our family budget at the moment. I sit down with hubby and list out all of our expenses. I ask for his input and whether there is anything else he needs. I also ask him realistically how much he needs for an allowance so he will stick to the budget. He always gives me an amount, I ask him if he is sure it is enough. He says yes, we start working off the new budget and he always takes more. He wants to buy things instantly rather than save, he thinks that we can buy things and it doesn't matter where the money comes from. If he does stick to his week allowance, I find transactions on the credit card instead. It's driving me crazy, especially when I forgo an allowance to make ends meet.
Anyone have any ideas on how get him to stick to it when he doesn't see the importance? I'm sick of struggling to make ends meet and being the only one making sacrifices

If he agrees to a budget and won't stick to it take his credit card and take his access to the account. He can have another account his allowance can be transferred to?

I'd get him to agree that neither of you have access to credit cards, and cards that access the main account, lock them in a safe at home. BOTH of you have accounts that you transfer your allowance into. I'd also increase allowances so it feels as if you both have some freedom.

It sounds like your husband is a bit of a yes man. Who agrees to stuff to kind of keep the peace with no real investment in what he has agreed to.

I strongly suggest your husband reads 'The Barefoot Investor' by scott pape. My husband was the WORST at budgeting! we were relying on our credit card by the end of the week, every week which became a trap! Since hes read the book, hes paid off and cut up the credit cards, stuck to a budget and saved thousands of dollars and it hasn't even felt like a struggle. Hes basically following a finacial plan and its just brilliant.
