Help Schools Cairns

hi there i am in the process of looking into school for my son who has special needs i would like to stress he does not have Autism or Aspergers, or a major disability. He will how ever need the support of a good special needs department in the school he is in.
I have been thoroughly disappointed with the lack of information for parents with children who have special needs as to what support is available and such. Actually i have found there is more about how they are going to discipline my child over the support they can provide my child while he is there. Has anyone found somewhere that i may be able to find some information about schools special needs programs to help in my decision making.
