Hi there IMs
First time mum and I have a 22 month old daughter. Might seem like silly questions but when can I start taking her to see the dentist and optometrist? I've heard you can't take them to the dentist til 2yo (I know she isn't far off it) but is this true or can they go sooner? I believe she has cut all her teeth, but if not she'd only have her molars to go.
I'd prefer her to see an optometrist also but I'm not sure at what age I can take her. This is due to both sides of the family (mine and her dad's) having eye sight issues in one form or another.
Any advice or info on this would be much appreciated - as well as any tips on how to prepare or what to expect for when she does visit these two for the first time :)

Between 2 and 3 is a good age for dentist, but no point until they are prepared to open there mouths and let the dentist look in there mouth. Don't need hands in there just a good look. A peadiatric dentist is far more experienced with little ones, they know all the tricks, but if you have a dentist you see, discuss it with them at your next appointment.
I have no idea about optometrists.
Give your local optometrist a call and ask. That would be my best advice. As for the dentist, as soon as you can get your child used to going to the dentist, the better. We have a wonderful dentist where we are but my daughter is 5 and is still hit and miss when it comes to opening her mouth for them.
If you are eligible for CDBS, chances are you have already got $1000 in you Medicare account which you can check online. Visit to dentist will be covered by Medicare so its a good idea to start now and go every 6 months. Look for Peads dentist. I was very surprised with how well she handled my 2yo who behaved a lot better than my 7yo :)
Same is for Optometrist. We just had his first appointment at specsavers last week. Its never too early especially when you have a family history of some illness etc. Good Luck !
