To cut a long story short my 14 year old has had behavior issues since year 3 and has diagnosis of various behavioural disorders, a mild intellectual disability and mental health issues. I know he is capable of success but every year he is returning extremely disappointing school reports with comments such as "He is not suited to this subject, this year has consisted of not completing any work, misbehavior, distracting others etc and to add to the comments this year he has been skipping classes and I've only recently found out about one occasion, I was unaware he missed a lot of classes. I feel like I have failed him, he hates school. What can I do to help him? I've done so much tried parenting programs, he attends homework centre, he plays two sports as well I've taken him to a psychologist and paediatrician for many years. I just don't know how to help him anymore ?

Has he received any tutoring?
Yes he attends a homework centre twice a week with tutors
Is there a flexi school that may suit him better? Or school based traineeships etc available? Is he being bullied or made to feel "different"?
No where in this area. There was a distance education but its closed now and my son's highschool has been closed it will be rebuilt over 2 years. There is only one public highschool here until the new one is built, he also has to get used to a new school which may or may not effect him. He is in the behaviour support unit and some regular classes-for electives.
I've tried helping him apply for his first job, I think it may make him settle down and help him to make better choices, hoping he gets one soon.
Homeschooling is this possible for you? My partner had health and learning difficulties at school too, he would only turn up to the classes he liked. However he is a hard worker now and earns more than me. I asked him one day of the troubles he had at school and I asked would of it been better for him if he got homeschooled and he said straight out HELL YEAH!!
