Hi I'm 38 weeks pregnant with a 2.5 year old. I'm due Christmas day lol. What was your life saving toy, thing to do, activity with the older child? My husband works nights so sleeps until around 1pm so need ideas for the mornings while it's so hot and we can't be loud. I plan on getting out to playgrounds etc in the mornings once bub is a bit older but the first 6 weeks makes me nervous. Currently feeling bad for watching too much tv, shushing him constantly and having no patience... do you have any suggestions?

Her name is Grandma!
I took my 2nd to playgroup with his 2.5 year old brother from 3 days old.
Went to his first party at the park from 1 week old.
You don't have to stay indoors.
Paw patrol DVDs were a life saver for me.
Buy your hubby some ear plugs, put a lock on the bedroom door and play like you should be playing. You shouldn't have to keep a 2.5 year old quiet until 1pm just so someone can sleep. It's not healthy!! Your other half should also learn to just sleep through the noise. That's what real men do!
I set mine up with a shallow container with water in it, add some ice, small bowls, funnels, bottles, even a bit of rice. It keeps my little girl (3 in feb) busy for hours, pouring and filling and emptying! And keeps her cool. Fully supervised of course, I either put towels under it and set it up in the kitchen, or if it's not too hot I set it up on the deck as I can see her. I also made a special box for my oldest when my middle one was born (similar ages to what you'll have) and he was only allowed to have something from it when I was feeding bubs or needed some peace! I made up individual packs using large snap lock bags and he would pick one. A colouring book with textas, a small set of blocks, books and other quiet toys. Made him think it was so special and helped me a lot!! Good luck xx
Yes !! I was going to say sand and water table or some containers with water on some towels works a treat ! To
Mix it up add bubbles or food coloring (not too much hehe ) , also freeze some toys into a large ice block show him to pour water on it to melt it and get the toys out :)
Play dough is always a winner here ! Make a big lump of it (then u know what's in it and doesn't matter if he eats a bit ;) ) make sure you cover it up each time he's finished and it'll last ages !!
Also have a special box of toys that's only for when ur feeding ! Just before you feed bub pull it out , just have a random mix of books and peg puzzles , cars or trucks or dolls even !?
Trains has always been a winner at our house too , set up tracks that are not too difficult and let them play !
But you know what in the situation your in a little too much tv or iPad for a season is totally ok mumma ! Your going to be tired and in survival mode ! Do what you have to and then break the habit once you've got your groove back . It's ok !! Xo
I have a 2.5 yo and a 4 year old and pregnant with 3rd child. Mine love a bucket of water and paint brushes under the patio, I also hung a pair of stockings (I cut them in half) and put tennis balls in them for them to hit with bats. I went down to our local appliance store and got an old fridge or tv box, opened it up and let them paint on it. Hope this helps
