My 3w dd is unsettled at night. She is bf and wakes around 10.30, will feed, burp and start to doze, then wake up, wanting more. The only problem is, she has drained me and I haven't got more to give. She won't take a dummy or bottle, and the crying for more continues for another 3hrs with me offering breast, only to have her upset once she realises there's nothing coming out. She's fine through the day. I have tried laying down with her on my chest, we have plenty of contact to help with my supply. Normally what I have is enough through the day, it's just that last feed that gets me. Any help would be great.

I have similar issues. Go see your community health nurses to discuss - they really are great. The options I have chosen is to pump in the day so it stimulates milk supply and then give this to my Bub as a top up with a bottle at night, or use formula if you don't have enough milk. I desperately wanted bf to be easy and did not want to use formula but this is my 2nd by and same milk issues especially at night. Ideally if you can pump milk then that's great, but formula helps ease the pressure if you get stuck not pumping or don't pump enough especially during bubs growth spurts. She should sleep a little longer too as belly full. If I really have to use formula as not enough breast milk pumped, I do half half. See your midwife and then can tell you exactly how much your Bub needs based on weight. Good luck and feel free to pm me.
