Juggling toddler and newborn

Juggling toddler and newborn

I have a 22 month old girl and a 7 week old girl. Just after some advice from mummies how to deal with my toddler and getting my newborn down for naps. The toddler doesn't really understand the concept of being quiet at this age. I will try and leave her with an activity in another room while I put the newborn down for her nap. But she will become sooky and follow and wake the baby. I spend time playing with the toddler during the day so she gets plenty of attention from me. My toddler has just begun sleeping through the night in the last week and it's now impossible to put her for a day nap even though I know she is tired, so I can't use that time to put baby for a sleep. I wore my baby in her wrap today and she had a nap there but that's not something I want to make a habit of. Any advice would be much appreciated thanks!

Try to teach ur baby to sleep with noise put tv or radio on while they are sleeping it will help drown out the sound ur toddler is making. I've done this for all my kids and they would sleep any where :)

You need to lay some ground rules. Toddlers, although young...can still make good choices when given the guidance. Babies room is OFF limits during X times of day. Reward toddler, but instil consequence if toddler breaks rules.

Im with a bit of both posters, teach bub to sleep with noise ( in the end you will really love this my kids were 26 months apart and i can literally vacuum their rooms while they sleep) but also you need to teach the toddler quiet time, when bubs goes down invent a quietish game, maybe reading or drawing. I always left bubs room door open, yes it was difficult at first but slowly bub slept during noise and toddler learned to be quieter
