Santa

So we all "threaten" our kids that if they don't behave Santa won't come. I've used this threat several times this week which got me wondering, has anybody ever actually followed through on this?

I think I recall somebody doing this.
BUT, they give the kids a chance to redeem themselves, as Santa some times comes back to kids in the new year if they be good enough.
So the kids got no presents. They weren't good enough between Christmas and New Years, so gifts got returned or used for birthdays.

Gee, you would have to have pretty terrible children (or be an arse of a parent) to follow through with that threat.

No but I have heard of parents giving a couple of lumps of coal along with their presents. They are told that they would have gotten a couple more presents but Santa decided to give them coal instead as their behaviour was too naughty. Don't know if the presents were actually subtracted though!

I don't threaten, because I learnt a long time ago that you don't threaten anything you aren't prepared to follow through on. Kids learn mum doesn't mean what she says so we don't have to take her seriously.
Not having Xmas presents is not something I'm prepared to do.

One year to show my lil one that bad behaviour wasn't liked by santa, I told him every time he misbehaved, santa would take a present out of his stocking & replace it with a spud... it totally backfired, Xmas morning he went through his stocking & found loads of presents ? & 4 spuds, cheeky mr 4 strutted up to me proud as punch & said, 'look mum aren't we lucky!! Now you can make us some chips!!!' Not quite the reaction or reasoning I was after! Lol

I will be, sort of.. My 7 year old was being an absolute terror the other day and I told her that if she didn't stop, I'd get to play with all her Christmas presents first as soon as she unwraps them. She pretty much told me that yes, she'd like to keep being an asshat, and yes I was allowed to have first play of her Christmas present. HA! She's getting a keyboard and a new xbox game.. I'm really looking forward to Christmas morning...
