Positive C-section experiences please!

Just after some positive C-section experiences/Pros of C-sections (in comparrison to vaginal births) from Mums that have had both a C-section and natural delivery. I had a very rough natural birth with my first with complications, which led to an 18 month recovery and now 20 weeks with my second. I have a wonderful pro natural Obgyn this time around who has decided we won't make the decision until 37 weeks, but has told me to mentally prepare for a c-section as I'm petrified of the major surgery involved & recovery. I've read all the doom & gloom of c-sections, so chasing some positive stories, if any! Thanks Ladies :)

I have not had a vaginal so I can't offer advice on that but my c section was planned. I hear planned have a much quicker recovery. I felt absolutely normal around the two week mark after bub. First week is a bit rough but it is to be expected. My tip - IF you end up having a c section keep up regular Panadol an nurofen even if you don't feel like you need it. Hard to get pain under wraps once you have missed pain meds. Good luck :-)

I have not experienced a natural birth as with my first born I was in labour for 22 hours before doc thought would be best to have a cesarean . The next time around I fell pregnant with twins they were 7 weeks premie so again I had to have a c-section/ I had good recoveries, the scar healed well and now been 5 years later the scar is hardly noticeable the scar isn't to big either .,
You just need a lot of support to help out with little things around the house etc that you can't do for Atleast 6 weeks. I didn't have any problems during my recovery, I took it easy for duration of the 6 weeks
It helps to sleep with a banana pillow or two pillows and to slightly elevate yourself up a bit, that's when I felt the most pain is if laying straight back u feel like the muscles in Ur stomach are to weak to lift yourself back up so yeah I used two pillows for sleeping. Other then that the pain was manageable
Goodluck with you x

Hello! I had an emergency c-section with my first. The second day was the hardest. Once I got home from hospital on the third day, I found that I was more comfortable and could sleep better which aids in healing. You will need some help getting in and out of bed and lifting baby the first few days, and definitely find yourself a comfy chair to use for feeding and resting when you don't want to lay down in bed (our couch was too low and I ended up using a dining room chair for the first couple of weeks). At the end of the first week I could do a lap of the local shopping centre, and by the end of the second week I was back driving with clearance from my doctor. My wound healed wonderfully with no infections (you will need someone to help you clean it the first few times). The only long lasting effect of my c-section was that my belly still felt "numb" in that area for a good 6 months after - not painful, just weird lol. I'm actually booked for my second c-section in 4 weeks time, so it will be interesting to see if recovery is even quicker being an elective rather than emergency. Oh and eat lots of protein enriched food (I lived on chicken and brown rice soup!) that won't make you feel bloated, and make sure you have lots of fibre so that you don't have to strain too much when using the toilet. Good luck with your decision, I wish you all the best with whichever method of delivery you choose xx
