Hi all,
I have 2 teenagers 16 & 17, both are looking to find jobs. We've tried the good old fashioned resume drop, Coles, K-mart online etc and have looked at seek. Been a while since my first job and things have changed a bit lol We're not doing to a good job with it all. Does anyone have advice on how to get teenagers into the work force, get their first job??
We are located in Brisbane.
Thanks ladies :)

It can be a bit of a waiting game. A lot of the typical employment places hold/collect resumes and then go to the pile when looking for employes.
As someone who employed young people and also took on work experience students , we put a mark against teens whose parents attended with them or did the talking etc. When we had parents ring for there teen or approach us for the teen we would question the ability of the applicant to function in our work environment.
Mcdonald's apply online! I am a people performance manager at maccas and we're always looking for reliable young people, I'm in Tas so not much help but I'm sure your local store would be hiring. The key to getting a job is being willing to start early as in 6 or 7 am on a Saturday and sunday and having reasonable availability through out the week so say mon -Thursday being available 4-9 and friday 4-11 it doesn't mean they will have to work that all the time it's just a bigger window for the store to roster them on meaning they are more likely to get a few hours and be picked over someone else.
I second McDonalds!
It was my first job when I was 15 and I learnt so much from it. After a year of working there after school and on weekends, I was training new employees and also got my Certificate 3 in retail (fully paid for too).
