Ultrasound photos on disc, cant view them

Currently expecting my second bub, a few weeks ago i had an ultrasound done and they gave me the photos on a disc, but when i got home i couldn't open the photos to view them. I took the disc back to wear i had them done and they checked it and the photos are definitely on there, but i cant open them. Would the photos require a certain program to open them? Not even the photo lab in town could open them, i would much have prefered them just give me the photos in hard copy. Very annoying knowing i have them but cant look at them or print them off or anything...does anyone have any ideas as to how i can somehow get these photos off the disc or at least be able to view them

Can you see the files (not necessarily view them) when the disk is in a computer? If so, what extension are the files ie.jpeg, png etc.

I can see the files, they have dat at the end of each photo file

This might work. Select the files on the disc and copy them to your PC then change the ext .dat to (I'm guessing) .jpg. Then they should open as normal.

Do you have a laptop?
If so, take the laptop to the ultrasound place and let them open them for you.
If they don't work, they may be able to do something about it.

These type of disks can require Medical software to open it. Unfortunately they are designed as a diagnostic tool for drs.
Most companies will supply you with a few hard copies on your request (well where i work does). Every company formats their disk differently so i cant help much further. But id go on the companies website and do a contact us asking if they can provide you with hard copies.
