What age is it ok to leave kids in the bath unsupervised? I think 3 1/2 is too young but when I asked his dad to go back and supervise while I dealt with the baby he blew up about molly coddling kids and it turned into a big fight. How do I approach this topic again without the argument as I really worry about safety in the bath if not supervised, but maybe I'm overreacting?

You aren't over reacting. Maybe try going to the Kidsafe website or even a watersafe website so you can arm yourself with info.
Kids can slip, hit there heads and drown in baths with only a few centimetres of water.
I left mine at 3 and a half. Not advising it, its up to each parent and situation always better to be on the safe side. I was only outside a thin wall and could hear the constant noise of playing and singing and call out to check easily enough.
I ran out to grab the home phone yesteday while my 3.5 yo was in the bath. I told her to stay sitting down & I was gone for about 10 seconds. My partner & I would never leave her unattended for longer than that in the bath. Agree with previous postet about the kidsafe website. Look up the stats on how many unserpevised children have drowned this year, too many!
I think 3 1/2 is too young
Too many kids drown
U only need to leave them for a few seconds for them to slip
I think as long as possible for supervision
U will know when the right age is
I know of a few kids that have nearly drowned so that scares us as well
Once it's done that's it no second chance
Agree and It happens so quickly and often silently!
3.5 year olds are notorious for not doing the right thing so I don't see why we'd trust them to behave in the bath.
If we wouldn't leave them unattended in the pool why then in the bath?
3.5 is WAY too young to be left alone! If something happened you'd never forgive yourselves. It's not worth the risk. If dad won't watch him then give him the baby while you watch him.
3 1/2 is too young. I'd be approaching it like a hammer at the head, maybe print outs of news articles of kids over that age drowning in the bath would see him wake up to himself.
Gosh what an overreaction on his behalf! Just watch the kid. Not a big deal!
