Changing birth certificate.

Changing birth certificate.

Hey sisters. Just some advice please. I'm in NSW, i had my son 6 years ago, at the time his dad was not put on the birth certificate and we didn't speak for a few years, by a few i mean 4. My sons father and I have reconciled and have been dating for a little while now, down the track i will be wanting to put him on the birth certificate (can you even do that!?) and change his last name to his dad's. Just wondering how I go about it???? Once he is on the birth certificate will he owe child support, i dont have to declare our relationship unless living together, its all fresh. Any advice please. Thank you.

Changing his name may be difficult because of the nature of the relationship but most of all the child's sense of self and identity. A child doesn't understand why his name was this and now that.

Birthday certificate I think you would best ask births deaths and marriages

If it has been left blank then the father can just sign it. As for child support and centrelink you will need to ask.
