Duromine

Duromine

Hi Im's,

I am after some advice regarding Duromine.
I have done a tonne or research about this stuff, the good the bad etc.
I want to know if a doctor would prescribe the pill if one is only slightly over weight.
i have recently gone from 83kgs (size 12-14 down to 71 kgs.(still a size 12) all through diet and exercise. Im 164cm tall and classed as overweight. for the last 2 months I have been stuck at 71kgs. i exercise everyday, eat right most of the time drink water all the works....I cannot drop anymore weight. It is not for lack of trying. I desperately want to lose another 10-12kgs. My self confidence is at a low, I hate buyng clothes or leaving the house. I feel really flat and frumpy and disgusting. I was in the right frame of mind, thought i looked good until my daughter took some photos and videos of me.
so after looking at a billion options a mate of mine suggested duromine, so i thought i would look into it.

I want to know if a doctor would prescribe it, do you have to be majorly obese to take the stuff? peoples experiences with it, did they drop the weight and then stack it on again, is there a better alternative to Duromine.

Probably not but the only way to know for sure is to ask your doctor.
I found once I stopped taking it the weight just came back on and then some!
There are some other options but best to discuss with your GP based on your history.

I'm not sure how easy it is to get, it would probably depend on what doctor you went to. I knew girls who were not even slightly overweight that were getting from certain doctors and were basically just using it because it's similar to being on speed.
As with all of these types of things you have to work out whether it's going to be sustainable long term as you can't take this stuff forever, will you just pile the weight back on once your on it which is usually the case with quick fixes.

I'm a personal trainer and I wouldn't go near duromine personally and I'd be exploring all other options first.
What kind of exercise do you do? It's very common to hit a plateau in weight loss and it's usually a sign that you need to mix things up a bit and give your body some new challenges.
Also, if you haven't already it might be worth getting your hormones and thyroid checked as if something is out of balance it will have an effect on your weight.

I can also be handy to keep a food diary for a couple of weeks and record everything that goes into your mouth including drinks and snacks. There are a lot of good apps you can get for this which will tell you how much protein, carbs, fat etc you are consuming and you might surprised by the results as a lot of things we think are healthy are actually not.

Anyway, I'm happy to give you some advice if you like but at the end of the day you have to do what works for you and just be consistent.

Good luck :)

my diet is very very strict aside from my 1 cheat meal a week.
As follows.
Brekkie: 4-5 egg whites with spinach, tomato, mushrooms and a bit of feta cheese
meal 2: a small handfull of almonds or yoghurt, a picee of fruit
meal 3 a small tin of tuna in springwater (i hadd lemon and pepper to give flavour) i have this wrapped in lettuce with some tomato, mushrooms olives and a bit of feta, occassionally i add cucumber, capsicum
meal 4 a bannana
meal 5 a chicken breast/steak/turkey/fish with steamed greens, once a week i will have sweet potato

my cheat meal for the week is normally the same as my normal brekkie except i add toast and the egg yolks.
I dont drink softdrink, i cut out most forms of sugar from my diet, if i drink alcohol its normally xxxxsummers i drink 2-3 litres of water per day.

Exercise: i walk a fair bit
i also follow a workout program called Tapout XT as well as go to the gym 2-3 times a week to do some weights and cardio.
by all accounts my diet is pretty good. iwhen i started eating this way i was very lucky because i neever snacked to begin with. the hardest part was learning to eat so many times a day.

your diet sounds pretty good to me, do you struggle not eating a lot of carbs? I know I would! It all sounds very healthy so you are on track with food which is normally the hardest part for most people so well done!

I hadn't heard of tapout xt but I just looked it up on youtube. Do you do any HIIT workouts (high intensity interval training)? They are really good for fat burning, I do metafit classes which is a really good one. When you walk how far/fast do walk and do you do it on an empty stomach?
I can't really comment on the weights you are doing without knowing exactly what you do and actually meeting you person but it might be worth speaking to one of the PT's or fitness instructors at your gym if you haven't already and they will help you with a program to follow, there's so much I could say and advise but as I said I can't without without meeting you.
There are so many factors and small things that might be holding you back, it's possible to over train as well which will hinder your results. If everything checks out medically for you then I would say you just need to change things up a bit exercise wise.

Just want ask if you have ever tracker your measurements versus your weight?
As a regular gym goer myself I know it's possible to be very heavy for my size because often I'm gaining muscle.
So make sure to track multiple measurements. Depending on your gym program it's possible to be loosing fat but gaining muscle.
If I tracked my numbers on the scale id be totally depressed right now because I literally dropped 2 kgs in 12 months but I'm also wearing a size 14 bra versus a size 20 bra!!

You may be eating too little. Your body needs enough to function and if it's not getting it, it puts the famine mode into gear and doesn't burn the energy it should. You could try upping the protein and veges for a week and see if that helps...

I'm a healthy weight and I've been on duromine before just to lose a bit of extra weight (Yes, dodgy I know. I was given it by a friend, not by a gp) and it's basically like being on a low dose of amphetamines. It works in suppressing your appetite, so you will lose weight but it makes you go a bit crazy and doesn't work long term - ie the weight will go back on when you eat normally again. For me this took a couple of months.

I'm pretty sure you have to be quite overweight to get a script and even then it's only given for a short time to kick start weight loss journey by shrinking your stomach and increasing motivation to diet/exercise as you rapidly lose the initial weight.

When I say it makes you crazy, I mean you feel really revved up all the time. Your sleep is affected and you generally become more intense. It's not good. If I were you I'd go to my gp and get a referral to a dietician and book in with a personal trainer. Better for your body and your brain!!
