I have a very big very ugly self harm scar from over a year ago. I want it gone or at least faded it's still red and raised. It should of really had stitches but I didn't want to let any one know. What is the best cream or method on doing so? I've tried bio oil for a year and it hasn't made a difference.

If it was a wound that should have been stitched and wasn't, therefore left to heal on its own there will be a LOT of scar tissue there. I have many scars from removal of moles that have large amounts of scar tissue. Even after several years they remain raised and red. I've had consultations from surgeons who say the only way to make them better is to have a plastic surgeon remove and redo the stitches.
I have quite a lot of nasty self harm scars. The biggest was stitched thank goodness otherwise it wouldn't have healed well at all! The biggest stayed reddish purple for a good two or more years. 8 years on and you can hardly see it unless the light hits it. I know how you feel though. I get really self conscious about my wrists. I guess I worry about the questions and how to answer them. I'm truly considering getting a beautiful tattoo over the worst of them.
