Reviews on holden captiva's

Hey IM's,
Im looking into getting a holden captiva im wanting to downsize from my nissan patrol but still have a family sized car. I really wanted a Mitsubishi outlander but id like to have the 7 seater option. Just wondering for those who might have a captiva what are they like? Do they last? Any faults? Any models better than others? Is diesel more efficient than the petrol option? Thanks ?

I heard a colleague who had to drive a Captiva on a work trip call it the Crap-tiva multiple times. But the new models might be better

We have a Captiva - had it for about 5 years, ex demo. I love it, the only thing is the acceleration isn't great if you are trying to overtake. Good bootspace but heard the 7 seater has pretty much no boot space.

I have a captiva 7. Bought new in 2010 and still going strong.
Had a few problems in last year but that's to be expected now it's 6yrs old.

We are a family of 4 and have 2 car seats in and don't use back seats so we have them folded and the boot is huge.
When we need to put seats up I can't even fit my small stroller between seats and boot so that's something you need to think about If you need boot space and all seats I wouldn't recommend it.

All in all I've been really happy with it and has been a great family car for us

They're called "Crap-tivas" for a reason.
I've never heard anyone say they've had a good experience with theirs.

Our work vehicles are holden captivas, I would say the turbo diesels are amazing, petrols aren't really the best for acceleration as another poster stated.
The 7 seats are great, when up there's not much boot space, but when they are down there's plenty of space.

We have fit 6 adults in one comfortably for a 5 hour drive. Apparently they cost a fortune for the timing chain (I think thats what it is) and it can cost up to $3000 depending on the mechanic.

I would own a turbo diesel one, probably not a petrol ?

I love cars and have owned many different makes and models over the years and am a great critic ?
I owned a 7 seat turbo diesel LX and it was a beautiful car. It had all the luxury options, wireless headphones for the kids DVD player, leather seats and handled beautifully. I could not fault the interior or exterior in terms of finish or quality.
I am 5'5 and could easily and comfortably sit in the back (extra seats).
I took my girls and a friend and her daughter on a trip using all 7 seats, I put a "pod" on the roof for the luggage so that we could use the extra 2 seats in the back.
The only comment slightly negative was that it didn't quite match the fuel economy that Holden marketed it for.
Also when time for tyres they are quite expensive as the same size as the bigger 4WD's but as you have a patrol already you will be used to this?
I would def recommend, good luck ?
If you go ahead I still have the roof bars and a set of wireless headphones you are welcome to ?
