Do people think it would be ok to leave a 14 year old home by himself while I go away for two nights? He will be 15 in February & quiet mature. He is not one to throw a party or anything. Has anyone else left their teenager at home & how old? Thanks

Not 14 I wouldn't do, 16 maybe. 17 was the age I was left home alone for a few nights (over 20 years ago). I was very grown up for my age, and had been babysitting (paid) since I was 13. Even being left at that age was considered risky by my friends parents :)
Trust me, things have ways of going wrong even when your kid is a good kid. Rumours start, that they are home alone, and before your kid knows it there is a party they didn't want or organise! It's not your kid that is necessarily the problem.
At that age I was at home alone almost every night ( mum worked night shift), I think if you feel comfortable with them and trust them it shouldn't be a problem, maybe just get a friend or neighbour to pop around and check in on them
I think he would b fine and its ok. But he will probably get scared alone at night. I would probably organise a sleepover with a friend or family even just so someone else is around.
Bit too young, I think.
My friends parents used to leave her alone for a weekend when she was 15 but she had to invite a friend over.
Maybe get your son to invite a TRUSTWORTHY friend over.
We weren't trustworthy...we had a party ?
I was 15 when my parents left me and my sister 17yo alone for a week .. but we had eachother and we had a party and that was 15yo ago ... I'd try organize a sleep over too at a friends house ?
I feel like if you were going out overnight and he could call you to come home would be OK but if you are actually going away it's a bit young
Just a thought.....
My parents left me a bit to go 4WDing on the weekend ( I wasn't into it) a bit. I had a part time job at 14 years old.
My parents went away onetime with our neighbours and left their son home as well. He bought himself and a few friends over as we had a pool. Next thing I know our house is trashed everything was stolen from inside the house as we were out side.
2 of his mates entered but we didn't know.
I moved out a a week after my HSC. Was super responsible, but not street wise enough not to trust others.
No way!! 17 yes 14? No.
