How often do you allow your children to use tablets, xbox, playstation etc and how old are they?? My mr 5 spent time with his cousin mr 7 and tells me he now wants an xbox.. to play minecraft!!!! Now my son does have a tablet with a few games on it, an hour a day is all he gets, and his NOT getting an xbox at 5, but i seem to have realised how much of a role technology plays in kids lives, even young ones, kids at preschool are talking about playstations at 4 to 5 years old... but back to original question how much screen time do you allow?? And ages please

My nephew and niece are 7 and 5. They have no access to devices except for special occasions and school. When I say special occasions, I mean plane flights and doctors waiting rooms only.
The eldest is now allowed to play PlayStation for an hour on the weekend. TV is for 1/2 hour a day. They are very busy, outdoor kids and although they will ask for access they'd also ask for chocolate, doesn't mean they should have it.
My own son had unlimited access to an iPod touch from when they came out (years ago) but there were no games on it, it was and still is used as a communication device. He is an adult now so has unlimited access to an iPad.
My other niece and nephew who are 10 and 12. Have about an hour and a half a day of whatever screen time they choose. Not including school.
Sometimes when we get together we will give the kids more freedom with gaming, but the kids know that's a rainy day treat.
PS if he wants to play mine craft he can play that on the tablet.
I have a 3yo and she will play on her dad's phone for half hr - an hour every couple of days. We have educational apps on there so she is learning at the same time. She does watch tv, in fact it is usually on in the background all day Mon & Fri but she just watches tv in between playing animals, art & craft, having lunch etc. Tues, Wed, Thurs I am at work so she has daycare with no screen time. Weekends are family time so radio is usually on whilst we dance around the house or we go out
