Short Cervix in pregnancy

Short Cervix in pregnancy

I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 3rd bub. Zero pregnancy complications with my previous two.

I had my Morphology scan last week, and my Midwife called me at work on Monday to inform me that according to those results, my Cervix is short. At this stage in pregnancy it should be 4cm long, but mine is almost half of that length at 2.2cm. This puts me at risk of pre term labour, before 34 weeks. She has handed me over to an OB and my first appointment is on Monday (5 days away) to decide where we go from here. Three possible options are 1. Cervical Stitch 2. Progesterone 3. Close monitoring for the remainder of my pregnancy.

Just wanting to hear of other women's experience with this? Did you carry to term? How did you manage it? Im worried they're going to put me on bedrest. Obviously whatever is best for bub will be, but bedrest is so inconvenient.

Friend of mine had the stitch, no bed rest. They took the stitch out when buns was full term.

Oh really!? A lady I worked with had the stitch AND strict bed rest. I was hoping that would be a last resort.

I think this is one of those things where you'll need to wait and see. x

How scary for you!

I had the stitch put in at 22 wks with my first and he went 10 days over and was induced.

I have a friend who had the stitch put in last wk at 26wks and she's now on bed rest until bubs here

It all depends on your circumstances and what's best for you and bub.

Good luck!!!
