Bills

Hi sisterhood, after leaving my abuse husband I'm hit with all bills for the household.

Each time the bill got high ex made me change company, I'm seeing a Financial Counsellor today because debit collect have found me.

I think bills are over $6000. My ex has left it in my hands and my brother live with us, he not going to help me in anyway. He telling me to go bankrupt, how is that fair on me. My future is going down the drain, how am i going to have roof over my head for my family. One bill is in my ex, brother and myself but they wont help

Dose anyone know where I can turn to get help? I'm trying to stay strong but how much longer can I.

You need to see a finacial advisor to sort out your debit. If your ex and brother live with you thenthey must contribut to the household or they leave. When the bills come in dont change companies ring them up and organise payment plans.

If you're on a payment you can go to Centrelink and see their financial advisors for free. Give the debt collection agency the contact for your ex and your brother, fuck them, they can pay their own way too. Once you get out of this turn your back on that pair of arseholes, nothing says "I'm a strong independent woman" quite like kicking useless c&ts to the kerb and this pair are beyond useless.

I went bankrupt over $30k and it's the biggest regret I've ever had. Your name goes on a public insolvency database forever. Even after it disappeared off my credit file I still can't get finance. Even though I work full time at a big 4 bank. Still can't get finance.

$6k is nothing!! Don't go bankrupt! Change your phone number, move house, keep your other accounts in good conduct for the next 5 years and it will go away eventually.

Go to your local community centre, they can refer you to a salvos financial planner and they can advocate on your behalf. If you're leaving DV they may even wipe it anyways, ATO wiped a $4k debt when I wrote them a letter because my DV ex lodged a dodgy return under my name.
