Put a chain on your back & front door up high where she cannot reach it, so that she can't leave the house without you opening the door. You can get them fairly cheap from your local hardware shop. How frightening for you!
Put alarms (cheap sets of 2 from bunnings) on windows n doors. Also lock house with keys n hide keys. I'd put an alarm on her door too, if its on outside of her door she can't turn it off with out setting it of first.
id also kick her butt!!!
How scary, is she sleep walking, when my mum was a child she could in her sleep find the front door keys get out the house and walk to school. The chains sound like a good idea or a dead bolt into the top of the door I to the frame work. I would also chat to her about why she feels the need to run away, all the best
We have alarms on our doors. We picked them up from Bunnings, they weren't expensive, but if the doors are opened at night after we go to bed we get a 110Db wake up call. All our windows have security bars so there is no getting out of them, but you can also pick up window alarms as well. At least the alarm will give you immediate notice that she's leaving the house and you can grab her.
Is she sleep walking or is it a behavioural issue? Not trying to be impolite, but if it is a behavioural issue you may need to try and find out why she's doing it to help stop it.
she may be sleep waking, make sure the house is locked , keys hidden so she cant get out , had a cousin who would get up in the middle of the night and sleep walk leave the house etc...
