Is it too late?

Well, i sure do feel like the worst/failure at the moment... i will probably have some jump down my throat, hoping not but anyway..
We're 3 days away from due date with #2 and its been the most hectic 9 months of our life, step child difficulties (which thank God has been sorted) our 1st child playing up (am lead to believe shes feeling a bit anxious about not being our baby anymore) a house extension all the while still working full time! My major regret is: in amongst all the hectic times we have totally forgotten about having the Whooping Cough vaccine ? watching the story on Riley the baby who died of the awful disease made me so depressed, and my partner... obviously it was spoken about with the midwife leading up to the time but it was just forgotten, plain and simple. I know i need to mention it at my next appointment which is this week, and i will but i guess its too late now.. god i hope not! Has anyone else ever forgotten such an important vaccine? We were so onto it last time ?

I'm pretty sure lots of people have forgotten or not even know how important it is.

I never had it whilst pregnant (first was born 3.5 years ago), and it wasn't standard back then.
Had my second 11 months ago, wasn't offered it whilst pregnant either.
Both my sons have been fine. And both have been in public place from birth.
Don't worry too much.

When did you have it last time? You only need it every 10 years.

I thought it was every 5yrs? But anyway, I have 2 kids and I wasn't offered it in pregnancy with either of them! The midwife gave me the needle before I was discharged from hospital with my first- he was three days old! He was fine so don't stress, it's not the end of the world.

My doctors have always checked my immunity levels when I was pregnant. Haven't had a whooping cough vaccine since I was in highschool, had my first at 21 and third at 28 they were all fine. Just make sure your own home stays bug free if you can and make sure every one who is sick stays away until bubs has had there first lot of needles. That includes people getting over colds. When my daughter was born I was in a shared room, the chick next to me sister came in with a full blown cold and with a kid that couldn't stop coughing. I got sick my baby got sniffly and I got pissed off. Not only did my midwife hear about it, but so did the chick who came in as sick as a dog because she couldn't bare not to see her new neice. Her new neice ended up in hospital a few weeks later due to a chest infection. Yup people are that stupid.

The insert for the whooping cough vaccine actually says "not recommended for pregnant women". Why they are recommending it puzzles me. I know lots of women who have had it and gone into early labour just after. Actually I know midwives and doctors who are saying they should stop giving it to pregnant women as the side affects are devastating! And I deffinetly wouldn't be getting it as is sheds so you could potentially give it to your new baby. Same goes for any visitors who come and see you! Don't be scared about doing some of your own research. Watch Vaxxed. Good luck xxxx
