I'm sitting here feeling disappointed. It's my sisters 40th birthday party tonight. I'd booked a carer for my adult son, who has multiple disabilities. Some how the carer went to the very wrong address. Totally different suburb, about 20 minutes away. I couldn't make him understand the address over the phone or by text, so not someone I'd feel safe leaving my son with anyway.
So no birthday party for me. I feel like I've let my sister down, even though it's out of my hands. I feel gutted I missed out on a rare night out (I took 2hrs to get ready I was so excited).
I'm furious that an agency would hire someone so incompetent that they can't read a simple text or understand basic spoken English. How was he going to read my sons medication?
My son is an amazing young man, and I don't resent for a second my role as his carer. I do resent that those agencies that are supposed to support us, can't be relied upon.

Make sure you tell them of your experience with that particular carer
And sorry you didn't get to enjoy your night :(
I have done! I'll be following up on Monday.
