I am lost...
When my child was 5, he got diagnosed with adhd, and we took it in our stride! Now at 9, after many tough hard years and a pead finally listening to things we were saying, and realizing that there was quite possibly something else going on, after many assessments and tests he has also been given a diagnosis of Asd..
Now, none of this changes who our wonderful boy is, he is a wonderful smart boy..
But it would seem the issue is with me..
I am exhausted, I am confused, and I have no clue what I am doing, or how I am going to do it or where to even start..
We have just had our first appointment with a psychologist, and I honestly walked out of there barely rembering half of what was said, and terrified that I might not be able to all these things that I need to do to help my child and our family...
Have others felt the same way?

My son has autism plus a number of other conditions. What you are feeling is pretty normal. It will take a little while to get your feet, but once you find some strategies that work for your son things get much easier for you too.
I used to make sure I took a notebook and pen to all appointments, but it's ok to ask the psychologist to provide notes.
