Hi ladies,
I have a child who will be starting high school next year (still 11 years old) and I am wondering what other parents do for care arrangements during the holidays? It is unsuitable for a child of that age to be left home alone, especially for such long periods and I have no family that can help out. I'm also not comfortable relying on friends so much for such large amounts of care. I am in Queensland and would love to hear what ideas you might all have. TIA

Does the school have an after school or homework club. Failing that I guess a childminder is your only other option
I used to break it up a bit. Play dates (not with the same family every day) for a few days each week. Take some leave for a few days. Depending on where you work a take your child to work day.
Also if you can find a YMCA holiday program they can be quite good.
Does your town have a PCYC? They run a very full on holiday program in my town. It's fantastic!
How long would the child be alone for?? If your child is in high school next year maybe you could give them some responsibility not necessarily the entire holiday but maybe incorporate a couple of days in there to see how they go
