Does anyone have or did have their son in Dance lessons?
My 2 year old starts dance class next term and people are already giving me crap for it. One person even told me to name a successful male dancer... i said Hugh Jackman. Apparently im being stupid (WTF i know).
I know i dont need anyones validation but im just after some positive stories from people whos sons have done dance.

Ha hugh jackman! Awesome example. My girls do dance and theres a few boys that do it too, one or a few in each class. Ignore the haters, at two id expect it to be a mixed movement and music class no big deal at all. I would find a multi style class so they can try out jazz tap hip hop contemporary as well as ballet, which i have done for my girls also so they can choose which they want to follow if any later on,
Hugh Jackman is a fantastic example! Paul Mecurio is another.
I trained as a dancer taught dancing. It's becoming far more common for males to take up dancing and you just have to watch a show like 'so you think you can dance' to see the athletics involved.
Don't let people knock you. If your son likes it great. If he doesn't he can try something else.
I was lucky enough to dance with some fantastic males, strong blokes!
I would have taught my son, or enroled him in another school but unfortunately he was too sick.
I think it's a fantastic idea! I was going to put my 2 year old son in dance but assumed he was too young yet so didn't bother looking.
It'sgreat exercise, it's fun and will be so good for his coordination skills.
I went to high school with a boy who took dance, he was not horribly scared from the experience was actually quite well rounded and popular.
Women love men who can dance! While I'd take no notice, it is good to have a sharp retort :) Hugh is a great one! And honestly - women do love a man who can dance :)
The best thing I can tell you is that you'll be judged no matter what you do when it comes to parenting.
Forget about what everyone has to say and do what is best for your family!
And thanks for the idea. I might look into a dance class for my Mr 2 who loves shaking his booty with the one very horrible dance move that he knows.
Fantastic idea we live in a small town and have some amazing male talented dancers. (many are footballers in my class )Many footballers use ballet as their training (in not sure what for but have heard it ) anyway he may want to get married and who doesn't love a man who can dance and fun is all that matters what does success come into .
Both of my daughters are in dance classes and there are boys there too. They have a ball! Screw what people say. If he enjoys it, do it :)
I wanted my son to do ballet, unfortunately he is a bit of a klutz like me so we settled on martial arts lol. I did ballet over 20 years ago and there were boys in the class back then.
There are hiphop classes that are awesome for boys and girls. Nothing wrong with learning coordination and memorising routines - helps the working memory.
Go for it!!!! There are a lot of dance styles that are pretty cool. Whenever i have gone to the end of year dance performances, it is always fabulous to watch the guys dance. The girls outnumber them, but they get to be the stars of the show... and the younger boys are just so darn cute doing their routines!
Can I just say there is a boy on the UKversion of dance moms so screw the haters!
